Katherine Swartout is an associate in Burleson’s New Orleans office, where she focuses her practice on matters involving maritime law, interstate carrier defense, commercial litigation, and workers' compensation, as well as general civil litigation.
Katherine has several years of experience in the maritime industry which include work with both the New Orleans Port Authority and the Cleveland Port Authority, as well as a major European Ocean Carrier. She has worked with Carriers, Shippers, Terminals and Government Authorities on contract negotiations, labor issues, and international logistics/compliance/documentation.
Katherine earned her law degree from Tulane University, graduating cum laude, and her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University. While in law school, she was involved in Tulane’s Moot Court program, earning Moot Court Coach of the Year. Additionally, she has been awarded membership in the Order of the Barristers.
